A fine portrait.

I just like everything about this picture: the boyishness/manliness of this young man, the masculine and yet somewhat casual haircut, the tousled hair, the simple/basic, no-thrill shirt with rolled up sleeves, the cigarette casually hanging from the lips, reminding of a Cagney or a Bogart movie(a feeling enhanced by the picture having been shot in black and white), the determined, self-assured stare and general posture... I couldn't have diverted my eyes from this boy if I had been standing on what seems to me -- given the restricted frame of the picture -- like a railroad platform. In a nutshell, my kind of guy.

Yes, I published it some time ago. The photograph was gigantically famous ("LIFE" magazine, possibly, by the look of it), but I'm embarrassed not to recall the photographer.
